Which Wii U console should Josh buy?

I want an xmas present. J, is it wrong if I buy this “cheap” Wii U bundle, or should I up the ante and pick up the deluxe set? Is there something wrong with the basic bundle? Seems like the difference is a 32GB vs. 8GB storage, but you can just add a cheap SD card and you’re good to go, right?

  1. Definitely get the deluxe set. It’s actually cheaper if you do the math. You’re going to buy Super Mario 3D World anyway, which retails at $53.86 from Amazon. You also get Nintendoland ($23), which is apparently kind of a neat party game (I’ve never played it.) So unless you want to play Skylanders, you’re going to save $ getting the deluxe version, which also includes a charging stand for the gamepad. Oh – and you’ll need to buy Mario Kart 8 immediately, and like 4 extra controllers. I recommned the pro controller :http://www.amazon.com/Wii-controller-shiro-WUP—RSWA-nintendo/dp/B009AP2518/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1418949780&sr=1-3&keywords=wii+u+pro+controller

Although you can also use any old wii controller you can find.

  2. I’m reasonably certain that the following review of Super Mario 3D World I lifted from Amazon is in jest, but you never know.

“This game is basically just an excuse for some someone with some furry cat fetish to parade around with some sick hybrid of a cat with a plumber to create this cat that runs around with a human face and mustache. This game is simply creepy and offensive.”

  3. Also – You’ll need to pick up the following games:

    Bayonetta 2
    Mario Kart 8
    New Super Mario Bros U
    Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
    Wind Waker HD

There’s others, but I consider the above to be must-own. You could add Smash Bros to the list if that’s your bag.

  4. J has one of those, it is AMAZEBALLS. Remind me to tell you about when we grab dinner after work next time.
